The 2012 gardening season has officially begun. This morning I put the sweet potatoes in the glasses so that would produce striplings from last year’s potatoes. This is a first. Hope it works.

The Backyard Garden

The backyard garden, which was once shared by cucumbers and tomatoes now contains five cucumber plants of the vining variety, one bush cucumber, one zucchini squash, one yellow winter squash, four strawberry plants, four lettuce plants, and eight sweet potato plants. They were also planted on April 4, 2011.

The Replanted Perennial Garden

Kathy replanted the perennial garden this year. She mixed seeds of Black-Eyed Susans , Shasta Daisy Alaska, Carnation, Cosmos Sensation Mix, Cosmos Seashells Mix, Coreopsis Sunray, and Zinnia (even though it is an annual).

On Friday, Kathy made the annual vegetable run to the downtown Augusta farmer’s market.
