Another poem from usc-gamecock
The Nut
quite
look,
there he is,
looking gray and down
studying the earth
appearing to be wrapped in thoughts
remembering another one
he glances toward the road
the path for which he fears
hat chew!
startled
he swings around
fluid motion
turns to sudden stillness
desperately gasping for air
heart thumping loud
quite heart
not too loud
for sound is not his friend
feeling the predator
watering his mouth
seconds drift
all hearts regulate,

A Busy Week
Posted in Just Stuff, Uncategorized on August 29, 2007 | Leave a Comment »
This has been a busy week. I have done no writing and very little reading. I did, however, remember why I didn’t like math in my younger days. That dislike is one thing I discovered that age doesn’t change. So, I will leave the college work to others and return to my glorious days of [...]
“Eyes pointed blue”

A comment was left on the posting of “His Watch Ticks” asking if I had any ideas of what was going on in the poem. I always have trouble with those kinds of questions because one can never really know. My experience has been that authors are usually the last person you want [...]

here is a poem to post-
His Watch Ticks
traveling on a spinning world
never considering to slow,
he remains motionless
close to madness,
winding trails of the day
etching into his mind,
lights, words, sounds,
asphalt, buildings, humans
trashing beyond capacity,
his watch ticks
endlessly avoiding them
he listens and sings,
yet moments short
consumed again,
these thoughts
seem to have no end,
his watch ticks
he tilts upwardly
eyes pointed blue,
filling his lungs
glimpsing [...]

Today is Connor’s birthday. He is the big 03. I talked to him on the phone tonight. He had a big day-a birthday party at his school with ice cream and cupcakes. When is the last time that you had cupcakes? I wish that we all could keep the [...]
Stumbling through Paul’s Letters

Today, I noticed the story of the Dutch Catholic Bishop who wants Christians to placate the Muslims by calling God “Allah” because God doesn’t care what we call Him (according to the bishop). I also stumbled onto the article about High Point Church and its refusal to host a homosexual celebration of a gay veteran’s [...]

Well, it is now official. I have registered, paid my fees, and bought my books. Beginning Monday. I will be “smack dab” in the middle of college. I spent yesterday upgrading my computer so that I could use it for the Introductory Java Programming class that I am taking. The program required more RAM than [...]

Kathy and I drove home today from Fairfield. It took about ten hours, but the hour that we lost going from Central Time to Eastern Standard doesn’t count, I don’t think, so maybe it was 9. Anyway, we are back home in “Hot”gusta where it has reached over 100 degrees for seven days [...]

We really had a good time at the Hubble Reunion this afternoon. It was held at the Hubble Family Home near Fairfield, Illinois in an area called Enterprise. The home was built in 1880 and has housed members of the family or family functions since then. The weather was hot, but the [...]

We are finally in Fairfield, Illinois. We are staying at the Briarwood Inn in Fairfield. We spent this afternoon with a childhood friend of Kathy’s and toured the Wayne County Historical Society Museum. The museum in the old Hanna house in Fairfield and used to be the site of Dr. Hubble’s medical [...]
